By the end of last week Thelin Construction had placed beams on the first three spans of the bridge (from The Meadows side). While it is exciting to see this take shape there are still many months of construction work ahead before the bridge will be completed. There is a lot of very fiddly, time consuming work that has to be done once the beams are placed, followed by construction of the shared path on the upstream side, part of which is cantilevered, installation of handrails, streetlights etc. Then once Thelin’s have finished Ching Contracting take over to asphalt the bridge and construct and tie in the approaches. So lots yet to happen!
